On Monday afternoon, Saif Zahid Ali, a 29-year-old man from the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, fatally stabbed his colleague and friend, Chakkan Ali, after an argument over who would pay for their autorickshaw ride. Both men, who recently moved to Mumbai, worked together in a textile company. The argument took place while they were on the Arterial LBS route in Kurla, heading home after finishing their work.
According to police reports, the argument quickly intensified, leading to Saif Zahid Ali pulling out a knife and attacking Chakkan Ali. The severely injured Chakkan was immediately rushed to the hospital by bystanders, but he succumbed to his injuries before any medical intervention could save him.
Aftermath and Arrest
Following the incident, the accused fled the scene, but the Mumbai Crime Branch swiftly tracked him down at Kalyan railway station the following day. Saif Zahid Ali was apprehended and handed over to the Kurla Police, where he now faces charges for the murder of his friend.
